PRESENTATION

FootGolf is a precision sport, a combination of the popular sports of football and golf, being more closely related to golf. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. Players kick a regulation #5 soccer ball on a golf course to enlarged hole cups in as few shots as possible.

The correct footwear to play FootGolf should be exclusively designed for astroturf or indoor sport the correct clothing is golf style shorts (shorts or skirt for women) with collar shirt, long socks must be worn to the knee at all times.

The first Official competition occurred in 2009 in Holland with former professional football players.

Today the sport is played in 37 countries around the world who are all members of the Federation for International FootGolf. The Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) main function is to promote worldwide recognition of the sport of FootGolf as we oversee its international development and growth to ensure equitable play worldwide for all players.

Establishing a new sport in the world is not an easy task. Even before it's launch, members of the FIFG worked tirelessly to introduce, establish and promote the sport at grassroots level around the world. It was very clear from the beginning that a structure needed to be created for the sport to be played at all levels. To reach this goal, the FIFG has established the international rules and guidelines of FootGolf under which all members agree to abide. Any deviation of established rules must be pre-approved in writing by the FIFG. The FIFG recognizes only one member of this organization per country.

The FIFG runs the most important FootGolf tournaments in the World: The FIFG FootGolf World Cup, the FIFG World Tour, and oversees the European FootGolf Tour and Euro FootGolf Tour.

The FIFG World Tour ranking started in 2017 and included more than 250 tournaments which were played in 22 different countries. The British Benjamin CLARKE became the first World Tour champion.

In 2017, FIFG was awarded GAISF Observer status. The Observer status has been designed as a first step in a clear pathway towards full GAISF membership. Observers will be accompanied by GAISF in their development towards fulfilment of all criteria required for membership, such as preparing them for becoming WADA compliant, assisting them in increasing their members in various countries across the globe and receiving the required recognitions by National Olympic Committees or by the highest national sports authorities.
